Agriculture has been a major focus for diversifying our economy. In a bid to further amplify the importance of this, Corporate Farmers International embarked on a 2-day Agric-Connect Summit at Babcock University – from Tuesday 15th to Wednesday 16th May, 2018.
The event tagged #BabcockAgriConnect marks the second edition of the #AgricSocialMediaWeek, which recently happened in Lagos.
#BabcockAgriConnect also aims to help promote and encourage youth for active participation in the Agricultural sector.
The President/Vice-Chancellor of Babcock University, Mr. Ademola Tayo delivered the welcome remarks, where he highlighted that “there would be a reduced tuition fee for new Agriculture intakes as a contribution to encouraging youths into the sector”.
The event had six panel sessions discussing various topics!
The first day kick-started with the first panel session, moderated by Yewande Kazeem discussing “Technology Application in Agriculture”. The second panel session was moderated by Prof. Fapounda, the Dean, School of Science and Technology, Babcock University and had on the panel Prof. D.S. Daramola, Dr. J.A. Adeyeye amongst others discussing “Food Safety”. The third panel session which was the last for the first day, was a Presentation by the Representative of Leadway Assurance addressing “The Insurance Industry and Agriculture in Nigeria”.
The second day of the event standing on already established protocols kickstarted with the first panel session moderated by Dr. Stephen Habib, MD, Kings Farm discussing “Processing and Packaging of Agro Products – Value addition or what?”. The panelists were able to establish the need for Agro products to be well processed and packaged. The second panel session which got the attendees more interactive was moderated by Adetola, Future Farms and had Panelists like Akinbolu Elemide (Kinzo Farms), Students from TASUED among others discussing on the topic “Youth Participation in Agriculture”.
The second day of the #BabcockAgriConnect event continued with an interview session with Mr. Bunmi Adeniyi, MD/CEO Go Green Africa Initiative. The event came to a close with Presentation/Final word from the representative of the Bank of Industry, Nigeria.
The event, powered by Corporate Farmers International had partnerships from Babcock University, Leadway Assurance, Cellulant, Kinzo Farms and more.
